About us
One of the finest Victorian stately homes in England, according to Country Life Magazine. Westonbirt House is a truly memorable venue for weddings, celebrations and corporate events.
Imposing from the outside, and architecturally rich within, Westonbirt House was designed and built by Robert Holford, one of the wealthiest men in Britain. He spared no expense in creating a home for his collection of fine art and furniture. Built between 1863 and 1870, to replace the earlier Elizabethan manor, it is thought to be the most expensive house built during the Victorian period. At the heart of 210 acres of beautiful gardens and landscaped parkland in the heart of the Cotswolds, the house overlooks neighbouring Westonbirt National Arboretum, once part of the estate.
With interiors still decorated in their original style, fine Victorian detailing, oak and walnut panelling, gilded ceilings and silk covered walls, Westonbirt House has a warm and welcoming aesthetic. Interior highlights include original 19th-century silk wallpaper, embossed Cordoba leather wall coverings and a notable Carrara marble fireplace. The magnificent library retains all of its original built-in bookcases.
Home to Westonbirt School, Westonbirt House and Gardens is also a thriving venue for parties, private events, business functions and educational stays. Our team event specialists are ready to welcome you and your guests.
